At Carlson’s Handyman Service, we recently completed a comprehensive Flashing Repair and wood restoration project in Marietta. Our client’s three-year-old home had dealt with a storm, which had resulted in the loosening and tearing of the flashing. On inspection, we upgraded it with a heavier gauge flashing and noticed that the wood drip cap stationed above the flashing was near peeled paint.
We carried out a detailed remediation process, where we scrapped off the fragile paint and caulk, primed the naked timber, cemented the joints to ensure better adhesion, and finally, gave everything a fresh topcoat of SuperPaint.
We are skeptical of the claims of those gimmicky house paints that allege to include primer, and we believe in providing a solid foundation for our top coat to provide lasting results. We also removed the house number plaque to paint the area.
For maintenance, it’s crucial that this area be inspected in a few months to see how the newly installed flashing interacts with the wood above and fiber cement siding below. Get an estimate today!
